Singapore Online Riichi Tournament 2019

Tournament Period

June ~July (Depending on the number of players’ and their availability)

Eligibility

This tournament is open to all Singapore players. Please register on the SMC website or join us on Facebook at Singapore Japanese (Reach) Mahjong Group.

Format

There will be 10 han-chans played on Tenhou. Every han-chan is scheduled based on players’ availability so this is NOT a 1-day tournament. The exact format including eliminations will be released after the list of registrants is confirmed and will be informed via WhatsApp group. All games are played on weekday nights or weekends depending on players’ availability.

Players’ required commitment is to play 1 or 2 han-chans per day about 2 to 3 times a week. Special arrangements can be made for players who are going overseas etc BUT tell us BEFOREHAND.

Rules

 Basically, Tenhou rules will be used except for the following changes: 

  • Aka nashi
  • NO Buttobi (bankruptcy)
  • NO Mid-Game Draws
  • Atama Hane = NO double/triple ron
  • NO Agari Yame = last dealer must ren-chan if he wins/tenpai
  • NO Sudden Death = han-chan will stop at S4 even if all players below 30k

The playing speed will be 5 + 10 seconds.

Rewards

  • Top 4 players will represent Singapore for International Online Riichi Mahjong Competition 2019 (IORMC). 5th and 6th place will become substitute players.
  • Champion for this tournament will receive a waiver for SMC December tournament.

Registration

The registration starts on 21 May (Tuesday) 12pm and ends on 2 June 11:59pm. It will be first register 1st serve. Allow us for some working time to confirm your registration. We will accept players in a group of 4 but will confirm receipt of your registration nonetheless.

All fields are required. Please note that you will be added to a Whatsapp group conversation when registration has been finalised.
