What is SgRiichi?
SgRiichi is a community network for riichi mahjong in Singapore.
It is not a formal organisation.
There is no central authority, ownership, or governing body.
It exists as a shared space where players and organisers coordinate voluntarily.
Why it exists
As the community grew, coordination became useful.
People began aligning:
- not because they had to
- but because it worked better
SgRiichi functions as a coordination layer where activities, information, and efforts can connect.
How it works
- Contributors operate independently
- Clubs and organisers run their own initiatives
- Activities are shared within a common space for visibility and coordination
SgRiichi does not manage or direct these activities.
Influence and contribution
There are no formal titles or hierarchy.
Influence comes from:
- consistent contribution
- trust built over time
- whether others choose to engage
Recognition is not declared — it is formed through participation.
Relationship with other initiatives
New ideas and initiatives may emerge over time.
These operate independently and are not automatically part of SgRiichi.
SgRiichi:
- does not represent external initiatives
- is not represented by any individual, group, or project
- is not affiliated with other initiatives unless explicitly stated
This applies regardless of naming or similarity.
How to engage
- Players may join games and activities organised by independent hosts
- Organisers may share and coordinate their events
- Contributors may build on existing efforts or start new initiatives
Participation is voluntary and based on mutual coordination.
For overseas players and organisations
SgRiichi can serve as a coordination point to connect with the local riichi community in Singapore.
