Change in Schedule
Please take note that there is no SMC session on 21st December 2013 as there is a MCR session at Thomsom C.C. from 2pm to 7pm.
“No. Full Privacy” voters
I would like to sincerely appeal to voters who has voted the option, “No. Full Privacy”. There doesn’t seem to be a concern of privacy issue if your identity is under password protected which only mailing list subscribers will know. If is a problem of password leakage then it is similar to how an e-mail can be forwarded to someone else without anyone knowing. Please let me know what your concerns are because I really do not understand how bad it can be from having your name put up in a password protected post/page.
There are a lot of “upgrades” we can make do from having a website if everyone is pretty much fine with password protected posts. Its like a members only area. Upgrades such as:
1. Record-holders
Basically like a hall of fame. Players who have scored very rare or high-value hands will have their record shown there. We can extend to other things such as highest score obtained, highest number of consecutive 1st place etc. etc. If we ever have a seasonal/half-yearly/annually intra-club competition, it will be nice to keep in mind who is the champion of that competition.
2. Session reports
Session reports can be better managed. Evidently seen from my reports, it is very common for me to make mistakes. To edit every single mistake and notify everyone again, makes our inbox messy. If is done on website, I can edit it whenever someone pointed out a mistake in the report. Also, a page can be set up that listed down all session reports in chronological order.
3. What-would-you-discard section
This is still far-fetched because there are many issues to address before it can work but this option shall be kept available. There were some who suggested this idea to me even before Riichi sessions were organised. The reason why identity is needed for this is because it is better to have the top few players’ views be emphasised for good learning references.
If names are not disclosed in any matter on this website, it sadly limits the potential of this website which we can explore and implement.
Although I’ve previsouly mentioned I will go ahead with password-protected posts as long as “no” is in minority, I still wish to hear out about the possible concerns I might have overlooked. Just in case that there are serious concerns that I’ve missed out, I will definitely reconsider the decision.
To the voters: Can you either e-mail me or comment on it under this post? Your name can appear annonymous but your e-mail has to be genuinly your’s. This is for my identification and to protect myself from possible pranks/troll. If no voice is heard by 16 December 2013, I shall proceed accordingly.
Thank you for your understanding.
