I would like to propose to hold another Saki-style Team Riichi Tournament in December, after everyone has finished their examinations. Our previous competition can be considered a success, and I would like to try again. Same as last time, we will not use chips but score electronically instead. Since most of us are still busy with our examinations, this is again just the indicating interest stage. As our Riichi community has grown considerably, I am going to be more ambitious and increase the team size to 5 per team (exactly like Saki) and 2 hanchans per player. Even if you have no team but are interested, you can sign up as well, and can be teamed with other players who also currently have no team.
If possible, we will try to host it at SMU so that it doesn’t disrupt SMC session. But depending on players’ schedule and availability of the rooms in SMU, we will make changes accordingly. There will also likely be an entrance fee of like $3 a player for administrative purposes like buying a trophy. Schedule will be decided once we have gathered 4 teams of 5 players.
