Online Tournament 2021

Taking into account the COVID-19 situation, we will still be having our annual Online Riichi Tournament earlier.

Tournament Period

June ~ Aug 2021 (Depending on the number of players’ and their availability)

Eligibility

This tournament is open to all Singapore players. Please ensure that you have already filled in the form at https://sgriichimahjong.com/join-sgriichi/

To ensure a minimum skill level of our participants and make things fairer for everyone, we will need you to describe your riichi experience during registration. It is preferred if you have a combination of both online and offline experience playing riichi.

Format

There will be 10 han-chans played on Tenhou. Every han-chan is scheduled based on players’ availability so this is NOT a 1-day tournament. The exact format including eliminations will be released after the list of registrants is confirmed and will be informed via WhatsApp group. All games are played on weekday nights or weekends depending on players’ availability.

Players’ required commitment is to play 1 or 2 han-chans per day about 2 to 3 times a week. Special arrangements can be made for players who have commitments that last a week etc BUT tell us BEFOREHAND.

Note that point penalties will be given if you are late for / completely forget your scheduled games.

Rules

Basically, Tenhou rules will be used except for the following changes:

Aka nashi
NO Buttobi (bankruptcy)
NO Mid-Game Draws
Atama Hane = NO double/triple ron
NO Agari Yame = last dealer must ren-chan if he wins/tenpai
NO Sudden Death = han-chan will stop at S4 even if all players below 30k

The playing speed will be 5 + 10 seconds.

Rewards

Top 4 players will represent Singapore for International Online Riichi Mahjong Competition 2020 (IORMC). 5^th and 6^th place will be substitute players.
There will be some tangible prize. The prize will be announced after all players’ participation have been confirmed.

Registration

The registration starts on 16 May (Sunday) 12pm and ends on 23 May 11:59pm. It will be first register 1st serve. Allow us for some working time to confirm your registration. We will accept players in a group of 4 but will confirm receipt of your registration nonetheless.

All fields are required. Please note that you will be added to a telegram group conversation when registration has been finalised.
