How are Sessions conducted?
Offline Mahjong Sessions (Basic & Intermediate)
Students are to have their lunch beforehand and arrive on time at the host’s place. Trainers will give a lecture based on selected topics (the syllabus list can be found below) for 30-60 minutes. Players will then play a game while receiving guidance on the application of the concepts taught. Depending on players’ speed, there will either be 2-3 games played. For new players, there will be some introduction to Sgriichi and a walkthrough on rules and table manners.
Note: There is a $5 fee to be paid to the trainers only at the start/end of session
Online Naga Game Review Session
Play 3 Sgriichi players online (possibly with the trainer as well), followed by a free game analysis done by AI Naga! The trainer will facilitate the discussion and it will take place on SgRiichi discord channel. Naga is an online paid AI game analysis tool. Naga has reached 10 dan on Tenhou which is top 99.5th percentile Riichi mahjong population. Players can register for 1 or 2 games and be on time for the game to start at 2pm and 4pm. Players who get to play are selected on a first come first serve basis during registration. Players who have played for game 1 will have a lower priority to play for game 2. An unlimited number of players can watch the gameplay and join the discussion during the review.
Online Riichi Tuition Hub
The lesson schedule will be shared in the telegram group, and students will have the opportunity to vote on the topic they’d like to review in discord. Once the session begins, the focus will be on the most popular topic, addressing all questions comprehensively. The approach is similar to receiving extra support after regular academy sessions. If students request to cover slightly advanced topics ahead of schedule, adjustments will be made based on the trainer’s availability.
