The World Riichi Competition (WRC) Committee has organised an online tournament on ron2 mahjong platform. Ron2 is frequent by many professional players in Japan. It is usually a premium account but with this sign up, you get 90days of membership!

Players from all over the world will be participating in this although you are likely to play with asians and europeans due to timezone difference. The top 4 will get a qualifying slot for WRC 2021 (postponed of 2020).

So if any of you win, more of us will be going to WRC 2021!

It will be held over the course of 2 + 2 days, 22nd and 23rd August, Finals on 29th + 30th August.

Registration fee is around S$35 (20 Euro).

If you wish to join, just register on your own and pay accordingly to the instruction stated there. I’ve no idea what is the registration deadline. I only know whatever that is written on the website.

Please also note that there is no re-selection of players for WRC 2021 unless the selected players for WRC 2020 drop out. This treatment is to be consistent for any future postponement of any tournament that require selection trial. Otherwise, I would have define the length of postponement that warrants a re-selection should any future tournament postpone again. Defining the length can be problematic due to many uncertainties that may arise in organising the selection.

From 26th to 30th August, WRC 2020 will be held in Vienna.

I’ll have to send in our players name soon and Singapore is given a quota of 3 slots to fill. Last year, I’ve asked for interested participants and I’ve gotten 4 who can definitely and interested to participate. They are Martin, Elijah, Yong Chuan and Feng.

I will be re-confirming with everybody’s participation and also taking this chance to do a last call for other players who might be interested to join. As there are limited slots, I will only give priority to players who have been playing riichi regularly in either our club or I-sports. Following that, I will check with players who are also fine with not going. If there are still more than 3 players then we will do a selection.

Please inform me that you are interested and able to join WRC 2020 by end of 17 Feb, Monday.

This coming Sunday, 330pm, there will be an AORMA session, the last for the year.

For the first 2 games, it will be the league as usual. Next two games will be for the top 4 players and they will be streamed online.

Some of you are already aware of this.

Nee Soon South CC will be undergoing renovation in somewhere end of Q1 of 2020. Even after the renovation, there’s no guarantee that things will be the same as before because there will be change in management.

Meanwhile, we have been trying to reach out to other CCs to explore the possibility of relocation. However, it is a bit problematic as quite a few CCs either renovating or will be renovating in 2020 as well. We will update again once we manage to find a new venue.

What’s left for the remaining time in NSSCC is, an 8-han chan tournament in 7-8 December, a league with new uma system and lastly a tournament with the unusual rules (like pair, team, or whatever)

The December tournament is a 1.5 day tournament. It will start with 2 han-chan from 5:30pm and 6 han-chan on Sunday. Details to be out after i finish my reservist…

This Sunday 3:30pm, is our AORMA 2nd last league for the year. Leagues are held every 2nd Sunday of the month.

For the final league, only 1st 2 games will league games, then top 4 players of the league will play off with each other for 2 han-chan.
